Atlanta Dream Trades Shoni Schimmel to New York Liberty

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Dream have traded guard Shoni Schimmel to the New York Liberty for the rights to the Liberty's second round selection in the 2017 WNBA Draft, it was announced on Monday.

Schimmel appeared in a total of 66 games over two seasons in Atlanta and posted an average of 8.0 points per game and connected on a total of 102 three-point field goals.

Atlanta drafted Schimmel with the No. 8 overall selection in the 2014 WNBA Draft.

The Dream open the preseason schedule on Wednesday, May 4 when they travel to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., to take on the San Antonio Stars, beginning at 5 p.m., ET.

Atlanta will also face the Chicago Sky in a preseason matchup on Thursday, May 5 (5 p.m., ET) at Mohegan Sun before traveling to battle the Los Angeles Sparks at Pasadena Junior College on Saturday, May 7 (7:30 p.m. ET).

The Dream will play their lone preseason contest on Tuesday, May 10 when they host the Sparks in a 7 p.m. tip at McCamish Pavilion on the campus of Georgia Tech.
