Atlanta Dream Re-Signs Jasmine Thomas

ATLANTA, March 20, 2015 - The WNBA Atlanta Dream announced today that the team has re-signed guard Jasmine Thomas to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, contract terms were not disclosed.

"We are excited to bring another key element of our core nucleus back as Jasmine will continue to play a large role in our endeavor to bring a WNBA Championship to Atlanta in 2015 and beyond," said Dream President and General Manager Angela Taylor. "Coming off a productive season in Turkey, she will continue to provide strong leadership, defensive intensity, and offensive versatility to this veteran team."

Thomas will be entering her fifth season in the league and third with Atlanta. In her two previous seasons with the Dream, she played in all 68 regular-season games, starting 52, while also starting 10 of 11 playoff games.

Thomas, who is currently averaging 12.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists for Ormanspor of the prestigious Turkish League, averaged 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Dream in 2014. She had five double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 17 points May 25 vs. Indiana. She also had a big performance in a road playoff victory at Chicago, with nine points, seven rebounds and six assists.

In her first season with the Dream, Thomas averaged career-bests of 8.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists. She ranked second on the team and 15th in the league in assists. Thomas scored in double figures 12 times in 2013, including tying her career best with 19 points in a victory against Los Angeles.

In four seasons in the WNBA, including the first two with the Washington Mystics, Thomas is averaging 7.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She has not missed a game during her career, playing in 136 consecutive games.

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream opens its eighth season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) on June 5 at New York, with the home opener slated for Sunday, June 7 at 3 p.m. ET vs. the Connecticut Sun. The Dream, which plays its home games in Philips Arena, has qualified for the playoffs in each of the past six seasons, winning conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
