Atlanta Dream News Release
The WNBA's Atlanta Dream announced today the addition of Laila Brock to the front office as the organization's new Senior Vice President, Community Impact and Strategic Partnerships.
With more than 20 years of experience, Brock's place at the head of both the Dream's Corporate Partnerships and Community Impact vertical efforts puts her in a position to align the organization's mission with its business development goals while also amplifying the values of the team.
"In building our front office, we knew we had to look at our structure differently - we're building a new model here that reflects both the needs of women and the demands we face in an ever-changing sports market," said Dream President and COO Morgan Shaw Parker. "What we stand for and a majority of the work our organization aims to do is centered around bringing the city, our fans and our team closer together, and the path to success is through community involvement. Positioning Laila Brock at the intersection of corporate partnerships and community relations - two traditionally disparate departments within the sports world - allows us to bring in the right partners that will stand alongside us as we focus on the work we need to do."
Merging corporate partnerships with community relations will help the organization to be more progressive in serving the Dream's rapidly growing fanbase, both local and national partners and the Atlanta community.
"The Dream is committed to using our platform to create meaningful, progressive change and amplifying the voices of underserved communities. Combing the power of our corporate partners with our community focused mission will help to enhance our efforts to make a positive impact in Atlanta" Brock said. "We are going to do more than just drive impressions through our corporate partnerships; we aim to give our partners the opportunity to lead the way among their peers in corporate responsibility. I'm truly honored to lead the Dream's effort in the community and corporate partnerships."
Brock brings more than 20 years of experience as a sports executive to Atlanta, most recently serving as the Vice President of Business Development for JMI Sports. She started her professional career implementing violence prevention, gender equity and racial bias training for student athletes with the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) (now the Institute for Sport and Social Justice). She spent time directing the operations and logistics for the Capital One Orange Bowl and the College Football Playoff prior to entering the corporate partnerships space.
