A's Lose Fourth Straight to Rainmen
February 6, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release
HALIFAX, NS.- The Brampton A's travelled to the East Coast to take on the Halifax Rainmen Friday night, in the second game of a back-to-back. The A's lost its fourth straight, 102-101 and move to 12-14 on the season.
The A's got off to a slow start in first quarter, shot selection and turnovers allowed the Rainmen to control tempo and pace throughout the first half. Throughout the half the A's were not able to get their rhythm until midway through the second quarter, and on a late run were able to cut the Rainmen lead to 48-43 at halftime.
Timely shots, ball movement, key drives, defensive stops and foul trouble for the Rainmen allowed the A's to cut the first half [16 point] lead to just five at the break. At the half the A's were shooting just 39 percent from the field, and 22 percent from long range, but the attack from Akeem Scott (10 points) allowed the paint to open up for Richard Amardi (seven points), Flenard Whitfield (seven points) and Tom Granado (six points). The Rainmen were led by Chris Cayole with 12 points.
The second half started different from the first, as the A's came out of the locker room with a lot of energy on the defensive end, and would tie the game on an emphatic Akeem Scott dunk. The next possession would be fitting as the Nova Scotia Native Bryson Johnson, drained a three pointer to give the A's their first lead of the game and would lead going into the fourth quarter.
The A's would see the Rainmen retake the lead, and would get as close as one point in the dying seconds, on a last second drive the A's were not able to connect, losing 102-101.
Scott finished the game with 24 points, B. Johnson with 16 points and Amardi with 12 points. Kevin Young led the way for the Rainmen with 20 points.
The A's will have a few days off before they head down the road to take on its Peel Rival the Mississauga Power Saturday February 14th with a tip time set for 6pm.
