New Mexico United News Release

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are thrilled to announce the addition of Darius Bishop, center back from Artesia, New Mexico, to its Academy roster. Bishop has played high school soccer at Artesia High School, and is the first player from Southern New Mexico to join the New Mexico United Academy roster.

"Darius has been a great addition to our academy," said New Mexico United Academy Head Coach Luke Sanford. "He has been a diligent worker and has improved a lot in his short time in the group. We're looking forward to his bright future."

Bishop is seventeen years old and has incredible versatility, playing extensive time at forward and in the midfield in Artesia. Bishop is also a track & field athlete, participating in the triple jump, long jump, and 100 meter dash in high school. His favorite club is Chelsea FC, and his favorite player is Christian Pulisic. When Bishop grows up, he wants to be a physical trainer.
