Bakersfield Jam News Release
Bakersfield, CA Mar. 10 - The Bakersfield Jam were unable to finish Saturday's game in the same strong fashion of their previous home stand, dropping the game 132 - 126 in overtime to the Anaheim Arsenal in Bakersfield before a crowd of 2,789. Anaheim was led by Steven Smith who posted 32 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in the victory.
Saturday's game was extremely close the entire way through as neither team led by more than 7 points. The momentum appeared to be going Bakersfield's way as the Jam were able to tie the game with seconds left in the fourth quarter, forcing the overtime period. However, the Arsenal outscored Bakersfield 16 - 10 in overtime, extending Bakersfield's current losing streak to 4 games.
"They shot the ball really well," said Jam coach Jim Harrick. "They beat us off the dribble and were shooting lights out. We also had way too many turnovers."
Saturday's loss ended Bakersfield's six game home win streak, and dropped the team to a record of 13 - 26. Mateen Cleaves put up 23 points and had 15 assists for the Jam. Kevinn Pinkney added 23 points and 7 rebounds.
Anaheim's victory improves their record to 18 - 22. Majic Dorsey tallied 28 points and 8 assists while Andre Owens added 20 points and 8 rebounds.
Bakersfield and Anaheim play one more time this season on March 27th in Anaheim.
