SPRINGFIELD, MA- The 2012 Eastern Conference champion Springfield Armor re-acquired Dennis Horner today. To make room on the roster, the Armor waived Eugene Spates.
Horner returns to Springfield after earning his second GATORADE Call-Up this season to the Armor's NBA affiliate, the New Jersey Nets. In two stints with New Jersey, Horner scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 22 minutes in eight games off the Nets' bench.
Horner has played in 25 games this season with the Armor, 20 starts, averaging 17.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 31.4 minutes. Horner has posted 10 double-doubles and has shot .471 from the field and .863 from the foul line this season. In his most recent game with Springfield on March 27, Horner recorded season-highs in points (29) and rebounds (15) in the Armor's victory over the Maine Red Claws.
Horner joined the Armor for practice in Springfield today and will travel with the team to Canton for the Armor's first-ever playoff game against the Charge on Friday a 7:30 p.m. EST.
GAME WATCH PARTY FRIDAY AT THE MVP PUB: The Armor are hosting a game watch party for the Armor's road playoff game against the Canton Charge on Friday at the MVP Pub in the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Springfield. The event will start at 7:00 p.m. and the game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. The game will be shown on a large projector screen and there will be free food, door prizes and much more. The event is open to the public, so don't miss the chance to cheer on the Armor in their first-ever playoff game!
PLAYOFF BASKETBALL COMES TO SPRINGFIELD: The Armor's first-ever home playoff game will tip off on Sunday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. inside the MassMutual Center. The game will be the second in the Armor's best-of-three first round playoff series against the Canton Charge. Game three (if necessary) will be on Monday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Springfield.
