SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Armor (0-3) will take the floor at the MassMutual Center for the first time during the 2013-14 season on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. to play host to the Idaho Stampede (3-0) for Opening Night, presented by MassMutual Financial Group.

The night will be filled with numerous festivities to kick off the home portion of the Armor's 2013-14 schedule. Before the game starts, the Armor will host their 'Read to Achieve' parade on the court as hundreds of children from local elementary and middle schools will celebrate the completion of the team's reading program. The program was developed by the NBA as one of its key community relations initiatives and has been implemented in NBA D-League markets across the country. The program, which is free to all participating schools, is an incentive-based program that takes place over the course of four weeks and runs parallel to each school's unique curriculum. At the conclusion of each week of the program, students who meet or exceed their reading goals receive prizes courtesy of Armor corporate partners. The grand prize for students who complete the four-week program is a FREE ticket to a Springfield Armor home game which includes this Friday's Opening Night!

Also throughout the night, the MassMutual Center will feature interactive games for fans of all ages as well as a schedule magnet giveaway to the first 4,000 fans through the gates. Prior to the tip, head coach Doug Overton will address the fans with a pre-game speech which will be followed by the debut of the 2013-14 Springfield Armor on the MassMutual Center's court!

After Friday's game, the Armor will continue their home schedule on Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m. against the Maine Red Claws, NBA Development League affiliate of the Boston Celtics.
