Armor Fall to Charge

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Canton Charge defeated the Springfield Armor 115-106 tonight, ending the Eastern Conference champion Armor's season in the first round of the NBA Development League Playoffs presented by BBVA. The Charge captured the 2-1 series victory inside the MassMutual Center.

The Armor trailed 29-27 at the end of a back-and-forth first quarter, but the Charge seized control in the second, outscoring Springfield 30-20 to head into halftime with a commanding 59-47 advantage.

In the third quarter, Canton continued to force the issue, stretching the lead to as many as 19 points before a late flurry of action pulled the Armor within 14, 84-70, at the end of three quarters.

Springfield managed to trim the deficit to single digits in the latter stages of the fourth quarter, pulling within seven points with less than a minute to play, but the Charge held off the late Armor rally to capture the series victory.

L.D. Williams led all scorers with 27 points, JamesOn Curry contributed 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, Dennis Horner added 21 points and 7 rebounds and Jerry Smith and Jeff Foote added 11 and 10 points respectively on the evening.

The Charge had five players score in double figures, led by Antoine Agudio's 24 points. Kyle Gibson tallied 23 points and 8 rebounds, Tyrell Biggs poured in 21 points off the bench, T.J. Campbell added 19 points and 8 assists and Trent Strickland chipped in 13 points.

The Charge buried 56.2% of their shots from the field and out-rebounded the Armor 48-31. The Armor shot 44.0% and forced 22 Canton turnovers in the defeat.

Canton advances to the NBA D-League semifinals to take on the winner of the Austin Toros versus Erie BayHawks series. The Bakersfield Jam and Los Angeles D-Fenders will meet in the other semifinal matchup.
