Reno Silver Sox News Release
The Reno Silver Sox caught the Armada in the eighth inning, but couldn't hold onto them long enough to get the win tonight, July 11, losing 8 - 6.
The Armada struck early notching three runs in the first inning off of Silver Sox starter James Johnson. LF Chris Wakeland hit a 2 run homerun giving the Armada the early lead. The Armada would score one more run on an error by SS Sam Walker.
The Armada would score one more run in the second before the Silver Sox would get on the board. In the second, the Silver Sox would cut the lead in half, 4 - 2, when LF Kane Simmons hit and RBI tripled. Simmons would then score when Walker hit a double.
The Silver Sox would then add a run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, and when all was said and done, the Silver Sox and the Armada were tied 5 - 5 going into the ninth.
Once again, the Silver Sox bullpen couldn't get the job done, as reliever Chris Testa gave up a three-run bomb over the rightfield wall to Wakeland, his second in the game, giving the Armada an 8 - 3 lead. The Silver Sox tried to mount a comeback, and were able to score one run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Silver now go on a five day, four game road trip to play the St. George Roadrunners. The Silver Sox hope to keep their undefeated record against the Roadrunners alive, they are currently 8 - 0 against them. The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park on Tuesday, July 17, for a four game homestand against Chico.
