Orange County Flyers News Release

Hey Flyers Friends and Family!

FLYERS IN ARIZONA

The boys are in Yuma, AZ the next four nights to try to lengthen their 6 game winning streak over the Scorpions. After losing the first 4 games against Yuma, the Flyers have won 6 in a row over their Arizona counterpart, including a 2 game sweep here in OC earlier this week. The games can be heard on AM 1370 KWRM, as well as at www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.

ALEX McROBBIE SIGNED BY LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANAHEIM

For the first time in Flyers history, a player has been picked up from the team during the season. RHP Alex McRobbie, coming off of a complete game, 7 hitter against the 1st place Chico Outlaws, was signed by the Angels on July 10, and has reported to the Angels single A team, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. McRobbie is scheduled to make his first start for the Quakes this weekend against the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino. IE's pitching coach is Charlie Hough, who coached the Flyers in 2006. We wish Alex well, and hope to see him on the mound at the Big A soon!

FOX SHINES IN DEBUT

2005 Flyers Pitcher of the Year, Ben Fox, who recently came back to the Flyers this season as our pitching coach, is doubling as a starting pitcher, and are we happy about that!

In his first start of the 2007 season, Fox pitched a complete game, striking out 7, walking none, giving up just 4 hits, and 0 earned runs in the Flyers 10-2 victory over the Scorpions. Fox will start again for the Flyers on Monday, July 16 against the Long Beach Armada, in the final game of the first half for OC.
