Reno Silver Sox News Release
The Reno Silver Sox couldn't manage to overcome the Armada's pitching staff, and lost tonight, July 11, 6 - 1.
Silver Sox starter Matt Parris gave the offense every chance he could to win the game, but the offense just wasn't there for him tonight. Parris allowed just three hits over seven innings, striking out six, and allowing just one earned run, but his effort just wasn't good enough to match the pitching of the Armada.
The Silver Sox offense was only able to get four hits and one run on the night which came in the third inning. CF Victor Hall was able to reach base on a fielder's choice, which also scored SS Sam Walker. That one run would tie the game up at 1 - 1, until the Armada scored again in the fifth inning.
Silver Sox reliever, Shawn Balteff, who relieved Parris in the eighth, couldn't keep his hot start going. Balteff allowed five hits and four earned runs, which would put the Silver Sox at too much of a deficit to overcome in two innings.
The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night to play game two of this two game series against the Los Angeles Armada. Also, tomorrow night's game is sure to be one of the best Silver Sox games on record as the World Famous Chicken will be performing at the game, making his first appearance in Reno, Nevada.
