THE CHICKEN IS COMING!

The Famous San Diego Chicken will be at the Scorpions vs. Orange County Flyers game this Saturday, July 14th at 7pm. The Chicken, who made his last appearance in Yuma at the Opening Game of the AZ. Winter League, has entertained baseball fans for over 3 decades and continues to be one of the funniest acts to tour ballparks nationwide. Pacesetter Homes is proud to present the appearance of The Famous Chicken.

Also at the game that night, the first 500 fans will receive a free beach ball, compliments of Best Western Inn Suites.

Finally, the Scorpions will be introducing fans to the newest member of the Scorpions family. This is an introduction you will not want to miss!

Scorpions Game Update

Fullerton, Calif. - The Yuma Scorpions dropped their third game during a four-game road trip Tuesday with a 10-2 loss to the Orange County Flyers on the campus of California State - Fullerton.

Ben Fox was originally signed to the OC Flyers as a pitching coach, but he went the extra mile Tuesday. In his first start, Fox baffled the Scorpions by tossing a complete-game four hitter with six strikeouts. He retired 13 in a row at one point after giving up an infield single in the second inning.

Both of the Scorpions' (17-16) runs came unearned in the seventh inning.

The Flyers (18-15) scored four times on five hits in the fourth inning. Scott Goodman and Peanut Williams led off with back-to-back doubles, while Buddy Morales, Bret Levier and Aaron Davis drove in runs.

OC drove Scorpion starter Donovan Graves out of the game in the sixth, sending nine batters to the plate and posting five more runs on the scoreboard. The Flyers strung together four straight hits to start off the inning. Williams delivered a two-out, two-run double He finished with four hits and three RBI.

Henry Calderon and A.J. Valentine combined for all four Yuma hits with two apiece.

The Scorpions got on the board in the seventh when an error allowed Richard Janeway and Calderon to move into scoring position. Yosvany Almario plated the first run with a sacrifice fly, and Valentine followed with a run-scoring single.

The Scorpions return home for a four-game set against the Flyers beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. at Desert Sun Stadium.
