Arkansas RimRockers News Release

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Dec. 3 - Clay Tucker hit a driving layup with 4.4 seconds left in overtime as the Arkansas RimRockers defeated the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, 112-111, for the second time this weekend at Alltel Arena.

The second overtime victory of the RimRockers opening weekend at home brought the fans to their seats as the RimRockers improved their record to 4-2, while sending the Thunderbirds to their second straight loss.

The RimRockers used Marcus Campbell's only bucket of the second half, a fast break finger-roll layup with 6:01 left in the 4th quarter, to ignite an 18-4 run to end regulation. Myron Allen, 19 points, scored the game-tying points for the second straight game by way of two free throws with 22.3 seconds left in regulation to force the extra period.

"Coach (Stoglin) told us to get the ball in and make a play;" said RimRockers guard Clay Tucker. "so I got the ball and made a play. We were fortunate to get the win."

Albuquerque (3-2) used strong performances by Marcus Douthit, 22 points and 8 rebounds, and Dijon Thompson, 15 and 11, to pull out to a 14 point fourth quarter lead but again failed to hold off the RimRockers.

Tucker's 22 points led all RimRockers; with help from guards Allen and Brandon Dean, 17 points and a game-high 7 assists, pulled out to an early six point lead after the first period.

"This team showed a lot of heart tonight" said RimRockers Head Coach Andy Stoglin. "A lot of teams would have given up after being down that late, but they showed heart and that's what won the game for us."

Albuquerque surpassed the RimRockers early in the third quarter as they outscored Arkansas by 11 points in the period, and took an 85-77 lead. They continued to expand the lead in the fourth quarter to 14.

The RimRockers will host the Austin Toros at Alltel Arena on Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m. Albuquerque heads back home to face the Anaheim Arsenal.
