Arkansas RimRockers News Release
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Brian Jackson broke out of his recent struggles as he poured in a game high 34 points along with 9 rebounds, but the Arkansas RimRockers could not capitalize as they lost to the Tulsa 66ers 110-106 in another close game at Alltel Arena.
Tulsa again pulled out to a large lead early and was able to hold off the RimRockers late surge to send Arkansas to their sixth straight loss sending their record to 6-8; while the 66ers continue to climb the NBA D-League standings as they improved to 8-7.
"They shot 41 free throws and we only shot 14," said RimRockers Head Coach Andy Stoglin. "It's hard to win when that happens. They made 32 and we only shot 14. How does that happen?"
Brandon Dean scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the RimRockers used a 24-13 run to start the period retook the lead 93-92 with 5:13 remaining. Also contributing in the losing effort was Clay Tucker with 12 and 14 assists.
Mike Hall's team high 27 points and 12 rebounds paced the 66ers all night. Denham Brown's 23 points and Will Conroy's 14 point and 14 assist double-double had the 66ers out in front by as many as 15 points late in the third quarter.
"We finally had a good shooting night," said Stoglin. "Brian (Jackson) and Brandon (Dean) were making their shots. We have been missing, but we couldn't get over the free throws."
The RimRockers led in almost every statistical category, but were unable to make up for the free throw discrepancy, being out scored 32-9 from the charity stripe.
The RimRockers will look to break in the New Year with a win as they travel to play the Fort Worth Flyers. Tulsa travels to Colorado to take on the 14ers.
