Arizona Rattlers News Release
WEEK 6 GAME PREVIEW: ARIZONA RATTLERS (1-2) AT GREEN BAY BLIZZARD (2-2)
The Arizona Rattlers travel to North Wisconsin this upcoming Sunday to face off against the Green Bay Blizzard at the Resch Center. The Rattlers will be looking to carry over some momentum after a decisive victory in their last game against the Colorado Crush (0-4), where they won 71-27.
This will be the first time ever these two teams have faced. The Rattlers spent all their time in Arena Football league (AFL) until this season, while the Blizzard have spent the majority of their time In the Indoor Football League (IFL) after coming from the af2.
Through three games, Arizona's offense has continued to get better week by week. In their last game versus the Crush, they scored their season high of 71 points, and the offensive stars were running back Darrell Monroe and Quarterback Darron Thomas who combined for four of the Rattlers touchdowns. Monroe was able to surpass a milestone in the victory as well by breaking the team record of most rushing yards in a game with 93.
On defense, Arizona recorded three sacks and got their first interception of the season. Rattlers DB Adam Sauder led the team with 12 tackles, only three shy of tying the team's record of most tackles in a game. LB Justin Shirk was just behind him with 8.5 tackles in his first game with the Rattlers, and on the defensive line Chris McAllister was able to record his first two sacks of the season.
The Blizzard's offense comes into the game ranking in the top five in every passing category. QB Matt Behrendt, in their previous game against Cedar Rapids Titans (0-4), threw for over 200 yards and three touchdowns, leading Green Bay to a come-from-behind victory. Behrendt also had 15 yards rushing in the game while the rest of the team combined for four yards total.
Defensively, the Blizzard rank second in interceptions, ninth in tackles, and second in sacks. Their stand out player is LB Karl Mickelson who ranks second in the league in sacks. Mickelson also has recorded 16 tackles in each of his last two games, four and a half of those were for a loss.
The Rattlers will be coming off of a bye week for the second game in a row. They had much success in the first go around, which led to their first win of the season. General Manager and Head Coach Kevin Guy will look to get the team ready to do just the same when they play the Blizzard in Green Bay on Sunday. Both teams are playing to get their first back to back wins of the season, which will make for a good battle on the field come game time.
The game will be March 26 at 1:00 PM Arizona time. The game will be streamed on YouTube Live on a tablet, smartphone, or streaming device.
