Arizona Rattlers News Release
Phoenix, Ariz. - The Arizona Rattlers will host the Green Bay Blizzard this Saturday at the Snake Pit. The Rattlers are looking to get back on track after last week's loss against the Spokane Empire (6-2). Arizona is now at the midway point in their season and will be looking to make a second half playoff push.
Last time these two teams squared off was in Green Bay earlier this year in March. The game ended in dramatic fashion when Blizzard's kicker Zeke Arevalo missed the game tying extra point with 41 seconds left. Arizona never once trailed in the game, but there were four different occasions where the game was tied. The Rattlers were able to come away with a 30-29 victory. Wide out Jamal Miles led the team in receiving and all-purpose yards with 99 yards for the game.
The Rattlers offensively rank third in the league in scoring with an average of 49.1 points per game. They are coming off of a game against the Empire where they scored seven total touchdowns. Quarterback Cody Sokol accounted for six of those in a career high performance. Wide receiver Anthony Amos has found himself in the end zone quite a bit this season, leading the team with 12 touchdown receptions. Amos had one touchdown in the game against the Blizzard and is coming off a four touchdown game against Spokane.
Defensively for Arizona, veteran defensive backs Arkeith Brown and Allen Chapman lead the team with two interceptions each, half way through the season. The two corners are the leaders of the third ranked pass defense in the league. They only give up 138.6 yards per game through the air. Linebacker Adam Sauder leads the Rattlers with 46 tackles and two fumble recoveries. In their last game against Green Bay they only gave up 30 points and were able to pick off quarterback Matt Behrendt once along with recording one sack.
Behrendt has become a one man weapon in the backfield for the Blizzard so far this season, leading the team in both passing and rushing. He has a total of 1,557 yards, and 1,341 of those are through the air. The quarterback has also accounted for 27 of the teams touchdowns this season three being on the ground and 24 of them passing. Wide receiver Marquel Willis has been Behrendt's favorite target this year. Willis has 35 receptions for 513 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Green Bay is going into this contest with the number one ranked total defense in the league. They also have the second ranked scoring defense this season. Their leader on defense is defensive back Tyrell Pearson, who has 38 tackles and three interceptions. His counterpart Manny Asprilla leads the team in interceptions with four, and he has returned two of those for touchdowns.
Arizona will face off against Green Bay at the Talking Stick Resort Arena at 6:00 PM PDT. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Arizona Plus, and streamed online on the FOX Sports GO app, and YouTube Live on a tablet, smartphone, or streaming device also listen live on Money Radio 1510 AM and 105.3 FM.
