Toronto Argonauts News Release

TORONTO - Toronto Argonauts QB Ricky Ray and rookie RB James Wilder Jr. have been named CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 20. This marks the second time Ray (Week 1) has been named a Top Performer this season and the fourth time for Wilder (Weeks 13, 14, 18).

Ray capped off a milestone-filled season with another remarkable performance, spreading the ball around to eight different receivers and completing 26-of-34 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns in a road win that clinched the East Division Saturday night. Supporting Ray in the backfield was Wilder who continued his strong play since becoming the primary back in Week 13. Wilder rushed 18 times for 136 yards and a touchdown while hauling in seven passes for 91 yards, both team highs on the night.

The 15-year veteran Ray exited the game in the third quarter with the third-most completions in CFL single-season history (474), seven behind Henry Burris' single-season record and five fewer than his previous career-high. His 13th game with 300+ yards passing this season tied Doug Flutie for the second-most in a single season, coming up one short of Anthony Calvillo's all-time mark.

Wilder has set the league on fire since taking over as the primary back seven weeks ago and has accumulated 1,141 combined yards rushing and receiving and five touchdowns in his last six games. He finishes 2017 ranked sixth in rushing (872), first in yards per carry (7.1), and first in 20+ yard rushes (9).

This marks Toronto's sixth and seventh Top Performer recognition in the past six games and 12th and 13th overall this season, the most by any team in the CFL.
