Mississauga - The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that RB Jarrett Smith has signed a contract with the team. Smith will be activated for Thursday night's home game at Rogers Centre against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

A former university standout with the Waterloo Warriors, Smith most recently attended training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2005. Prior to his time in Winnipeg, Jarrett spent six seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he appeared in two Grey Cup championships, winning in one in 1999.

Acquired: Signed as a free agent with Toronto on October 26, 2005.

2005: Signed as a free agent April 13 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in April and was released on June 18.

2004: Released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 20 just prior to training camp.

2003: Special teams leader with Hamilton...collected 17 ST tackles in 12 games and returned two punts for 28 yards...rushed 16 times for 62 yards and hauled in two passes for five yards...underwent knee surgery in the off-season.

2002: Played in 18 games for the Ticats and started four games at RB from Week 12 to 15...In first ever start (15/09/02) versus Montreal, he recorded a career-high 16 carries for 61 yards and one TD...finished the season with four TDs, including a 41-yard return of a blocked punt.

2001: Recorded two fumble returns for 39 yards and 1 TD, 15 special teams tackles and 1 defensive tackles in 11 games...played in the East Division semi-final and final.

2000: Rushed 23 times for 69 yards and 1 TD and hauled in 5 passes for 70 yards, scooped up 2 fumble returns for 29 yards and 1 TD, collected 15 special-teams tackles and one defensive tackle in 18 games.

1999: Rushed 64 yards on 10 carries and was credited with 10 special teams tackles...had a 39-yard rush on a fake punt...He missed the first 10 games of the season due to a pre-season neck injury...dressed for Grey Cup game.

1998: Signed as an un-drafted free agent with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on January 16, 1998...finished season second on team with 17 special-teams tackles...finished third 170 yards rushing...rushed for 20 yards on a fake punt to set up a Paul Osbaldiston field goal in a losing effort in the Grey Cup.

College: Waterloo's all-time leading rusher at time of graduation...gained 3,895 yards on 684 carries over five seasons...led the CIAU in rushing in 1997 with 1,620 yards on 253 carries and was a Hec Creighton nominee...received the Omega Trophy as the MVP in the OUA in 1996 and 1997 and was an OUA all-star in 1995, 1996 and 1997...Won a Yates Cup championship in 1997.

Personal: Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo.
