Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release
BOARDMAN, Ohio. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder are pleased to announce that arenafootball2 President Jerry Kurz will be on hand for Saturday's game versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers on Cortland Banks Field at the Chevrolet Centre. Kurz will participate in the honorary coin toss, along with a representative from WKBN 570 AM.
Certainly no stranger to the game of Arena Football, Kurz is entering his third season as af2 President. As one of the founding members of Gridiron Enterprises Inc., the charter member of the Arena Football League, Kurz is only exceeded in AFL tenure by Jim Foster, the creator of Arena Football.
As one of the game's founding fathers, Kurz has had an instrumental role in the growth of Arena Football League over the past 21 years. Now directly in charge of af2, Kurz continues to use that same vision and passion to cultivate af2 into the premier developmental football league in the country.
In his short time as chief of af2, Kurz has solidified the future growth potential of the league by securing a core of quality operators and adding several new teams that began play in 2007. Thanks to Kurz's efforts, this year the league welcomed nine new members: the Boise Burn, Cincinnati Jungle Kats, Corpus Christi Sharks, Fort Wayne Fusion, Laredo Lobos, Lubbock Renegades, Mahoning Valley Thunder, Texas Copperheads and Tri-Cities Fever.
The Mahoning Valley Thunder 2007 season is underway on Cortland Banks Field at the Chevrolet Centre. In the historic inaugural game, a sellout crowd of 5,954 witnessed the first win in team history. Don't miss out on any of the fast-paced, action-packed excitement that is Arena Football. Great seats are still available for the remainder of the Thunder home schedule. To purchase tickets, visit the Chevrolet Centre Box Office, call the Thunder Office at (330) 758-4232 or visit www.mahoningvalleythunder.com.
