Chicago Rush News Release

CHICAGO (May 30, 2012) - The largest independent youth football league in America is once again teaming with the largest market of the Arena Football League for a marquee event on June 16th.

The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL) and the Chicago Rush are partnering together for the 2nd annual TCYFL All-Star event hosted at Allstate Arena. Beginning at 3 p.m., 36 youth athletes from 32 Chicagoland communities will take the turf to play the first three quarters of their heralded All-Star game prior to the Chicago Rush taking on the Georgia Force at 7 p.m.

At the conclusion of the third quarter of their All-Star game, the TCYFL will transition outside to host a Concussion Awareness Tailgate Party in the West parking lot of Allstate Arena from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

"We are honored to continue our great partnership with a first class organization, such as the Chicago Rush. We are also very proud that they have gotten involved with a tremendous amount of support in our Concussion Initiative," stated TCYFL President Geoff Meyer.

The final quarter of the TCYFL All-Star game will come at halftime of the Georgia Force vs. Chicago Rush game as the youth athletes finish in front of the thousands of fans in attendance.

Former Chicago Bears Desmond Clark and Alex Brown will act as honorary coaches for the East and West All-Star teams.

Selection of the youth All-Stars focuses not only on athletic talent, but also the dedication to the "One Team, One Family" slogan the TCYFL lives by.

"Anytime we can partner with a youth organization that incorporates life lessons beyond the athletic field the Rush organization is always going to be welcoming," stated Chicago Rush President/GM Roger Wexelberg. "Matching our platform of Arena Football to youth athletes is vitally important to us and we're excited to move into the second year of this partnership."

The All-Stars are also receiving the opportunity to practice at the Chicago Rush indoor facility out in Palatine on May 31st, June 5th, and June 7th. Those three practices are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., with select Chicago Rush players directing the youth athletes in proper football drills, as well as speaking on the importance of football safety. The final practice is scheduled for June 11th at 10:30 a.m. located on the grounds of the WGN9 studios.
