Top Six Spots Deadlocked for Second Week
May 30, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release
CHICAGO - For the second consecutive week, the top six spots of the AFL Coaches' Poll remained the same, with Arizona (8-3) retaining the top position of the Week 13 Poll.
After a 69-45 win in "The Graveyard" this past weekend over the New Orleans VooDoo (4-6), the Rattlers racked up eleven first place votes. Quarterback Nick Davila finished the game 20-for-26 with 303 yards and nine touchdowns. He and the Rattlers take on the Pittsburgh Power (2-8) this Saturday night at home. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET.
With an 84-77 overtime win against the Chicago Rush (6-4) last Saturday, the SaberCats (8-3) maintain the second spot in the Poll. San Jose received just one first place vote after the win, two fewer than in Week 12 coming off a loss to San Antonio. The team travels to Milwaukee on Saturday for a matchup against the Mustangs (3-7).
San Antonio (8-3) remains third in the Poll with five first place votes after their 64-61 victory over the Utah Blaze in Week 12. The victory extended the Talons winning streak to five games. This weekend, San Antonio takes on the VooDoo with hopes to extend that streak.
The Philadelphia Soul (8-3) defeat the Cleveland Gladiators (6-4), 55-33, keeping them in fourth place. The divisional win gives the Soul full control of the American Conference East Division as they prepare to face former Philadelphia Head Coach Bret Munsey and his Orlando Predators (1-9).
Taking the fifth spot again in the Coaches' Poll is the Rush. After a tough overtime loss to San Jose in Week 12, the Rush will look to rebound against another West Division opponent, the Spokane Shock (6-4), this Sunday at the Allstate Arena. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.
