
Arcia & Salcedo to Beloit, Roster Released

BELOIT, WI - The Minnesota Twins are proud to announce the 2011 Beloit Snappers roster managed once again by Nelson Prada, now in his 4th season. This year's roster is features a pair of prospects recognized by Baseball America. Both right-handed pitcher Adrian Salcedo (#8 rated prospect) and outfielder Oswaldo Arcia (#9) were named to the "Top Ten Minnesota Twins Prospects" list.
Both players excelled last season in Rookie League with Elizabethton. Salcedo went 4-3 with a 3.27 ERA, striking out 65 in 66 innings pitched and finished his season in High-A Fort Myers. Arcia hit .375 with 21 doubles and 51 RBI.
Arcia and Salcedo are two of the eleven players that will join the Snappers this season being promoted from the Rookie League Elizabethton Twins. New to the Snappers starting pitching staff are 2010 6th round draft pick, left-hander Logan Darnell, who finished 2-3 with a 2.08 ERA, Manuel Soliman posted a 5-2 ERA and a 3.48 ERA and was named the 10th ranked prospect in the Appalachian League by Baseball America after last season.
Jose Gonzalez (2-1, 0.72 ERA with Elizabethton and Ft. Myers), Blayne Weller (3-6, 4.57 ERA) and Ryan O'Rourke (1-3, 5.10 ERA) will be in the bullpen.
Fourteen players will return to Beloit from the 2010 roster including pitchers Clinton Dempster (3-2, 3.60 ERA), and Andrei Lobanov (1-2, 3.44 ERA). Notable returning position players returning are outfielders Lance Ray (.279 AVG, 14 2B, 3 HR, 28 RBI), Wang-Wei Lin (.236 AVG, 1 HR, and 27 RBI), switch-hitting shortstop Daniel Santana (.238 AVG, 3 3B, 11 RBI, 10 SB), second basemen Derek McCallum (.228 AVG, 11 2B, 15 RBI) and Reggie Williams (.236 AVG, 19 2B, 53 RBI)
New to the Snappers infield are Andy Leer (.266 AVG, 17 2B, 5 HR, 36 RBI) and Gunner Glad (.241 AVG, 9 2B, 15 RBI). Joining Arcia, Lin and Ray in the outfield is 2008 4th round draft pick Daniel Ortiz who hit .259, smacked 16 doubles and 11 home runs and drove in 43 RBI last year in Elizabethton.

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and a Class-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
