
AquaSox Leapfrog the Dust Devils for Third Consecutive Win, 9-6

PASCO, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox (28-17) scored four runs in the ninth inning for a 9-6 comeback victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils (15-31).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dust Devils jumped ahead in the first inning when Brendon Davis drove in Livan Soto with a single. In the third inning, Patrick Frick scored on a Tyler Keenan sacrifice fly, tying the game 1-1.
Keenan launched the 'Sox ahead with a solo home run in the fifth inning, giving the Frogs a 2-1 lead. Their lead was short lived; Tri-City responded in the bottom of the inning, tying the game once again with an RBI double. Jake Anchia hit his first AquaSox home run in the sixth inning, putting the 'Sox ahead, 3-2. The Dust Devils answered the following inning; Francisco Del Valle tripled, driving in Davis to tie the game. An AquaSox throwing error allowed Del Valle to score, giving the Dust Devils a 4-3 lead.
The AquaSox took the lead for the third time when Cade Marlowe hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, giving the Frogs a one-run lead. The Dust Devils wiped away the 'Sox lead for a third consecutive inning; Ty Greene scored on wild pitch, tying the score at 5-5 after seven innings. In the eighth inning, Brandon White hit an RBI single, giving the Dust Devils a 6-5 lead heading into the ninth inning.
The 'Sox rallied again in the top of the ninth, starting with a game-tying RBI double from Joseph Rosa. Zach DeLoach drove in two more runs with a two-out line drive single up the middle, extending the AquaSox' lead to 8-6. Frick concluded the scoring with an RBI single, driving in Anchia. David Ellingson pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth for the AquaSox, solidifying their 9-6 victory.
WRAPPING IT UP
AquaSox starting pitcher George Kirby completed six innings and struck out a professional career high of nine batters. Frick walked three times and has drawn walks in five consecutive games. Rosa stole his 10th base of the season, giving him the team lead.
The Frogs were strong at the plate, hitting three home runs, marking the most home runs the Frogs have hit on the road during the 2021 season. AquaSox batters ended the night with 10 hits, 10 walks and 10 strikeouts. The AquaSox won four of the first five games in the six-game series, leading the Dust Devils 10-1 in head-to-head games this season and outscoring them 101-30.
LOOKING AHEAD
The AquaSox and Dust Devils will conclude their six-game series On Sunday, June 27 at Gesa Stadium; the high temperature is expected to reach 112 degrees. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m with the radio pregame show starting at 5:50 p.m. Hear all of the action with Steve Willits on KRKO.
2020 5th Round draft pick RHP Taylor Dollard is set to make his AquaSox debut. At the Mariners' Low-A affiliate, the Modesto Nuts, he was 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA through seven games. RHP Dylan King (0-3 8.59 ERA) will take the mound for the Dust Devils. The AquaSox will return to Funko Field on Tuesday, June 29 for a six-game homestand against the Vancouver Canadians.
