Everett AquaSox News Release
PASCO, Wash. - The Everett AquaSox were shut out for a second straight game. Tri-City second baseman Olivier Basabe batted 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI as the Dust Devils pulled to within a game of the first place AquaSox in the North Division standings with a 3-0 win. Vancouver downed Spokane earlier in the evening and remain tied for second place with Tri-City.
The AquaSox haven't scored since the sixth inning on Thursday night at home against Vancouver - a stretch of 21 consecutive innings.
The closest Everett came to a run on Saturday was in the fifth inning. Matt Sanders led off with a single to left and advanced to second on an error by leftfielder Mason House. With one out and Sanders at third, Geoandry Montilla hit a hard ground ball down the third-base line that was smothered by Kelvin Alarcon. Sanders broke to the plate but was thrown out by Alarcon on a close play.
Tri-City left-hander Ramon Perez (1-1) went 5 2/3 innings for his first Northwest League win. He scattered four hits walked none and struck out eight.
Carlos Hernandez (1-3) got through five innings for the AquaSox. He allowed just two runs and struck out four. Connor Kopach was 3-for-4 for Everett.
