
AquaSox Begin Road Trip with Win

SPOKANE, WA: The Everett AquaSox (2-8) snapped an early season eight game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Spokane Indians (8-2) at Avista Stadium in front of a crowd of 1,614. For the AquaSox it was a wire-to-wire win, and their first since opening night in Hillsboro.
Ben Williamson helped to lead the offense going 2-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and 3 RBI.
Williamson gave the AquaSox a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a two-out RBI single to center scoring Bill Knight, who had reached on an error. In the third inning, Williamson delivered another two-out RBI single that scored Brock Rodden. Jared Sundstrom followed with a two-run double into the left field corner that got Knight and Williamson home, and it was 4-0 AquaSox.
Spokane pulled to within one at 4-3 in the fifth inning on a two-run single from Robby Martin.
AquaSox starting pitcher Ryan Hawks (1-0) went five innings to pick up his first professional win. He allowed eight hits and three runs (all earned); he walked two and struck out four while throwing 78 pitches.
The AquaSox received four shutout innings from the bullpen. Jimmy Kingsbury struck out three in his two scoreless innings. Nick Davila turned in two perfect innings to earn his first save. Davila struck out the side in order in the eighth inning on 10 pitches, narrowly missing an immaculate inning.
AquaSox leadoff batter Brock Rodden finished 2-for-5 with a stolen base.
