Anthony Hoke Earns AFL Honors for Week 6

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators are pleased to announce that defensive end ANTHONY HOKE has been named the Riddell Defensive Player of the Week by the Arena Football League for Week 6. Hoke totaled six tackles, two sacks, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble and one blocked kick in the loss to the VooDoo, 34-33, last Saturday.

Hoke becomes the first Gladiator to be recognized with league honors for his performance on the field in 2011. He is the Cleveland Gladiators' first AFL Defensive Player of the Week in the regular season in franchise history. Defensive back BRANDON HEFFLIN was awarded the honor following the Wild Card Round of the 2008 playoffs.

Hoke finished the 2010 AFL season a second-team All-Arena selection following his first year in with the Gladiators and in the league. Through four games in 2011, Hoke has 10 tackles, three sacks, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one pass defended, one forced fumble and two blocked kicks.

The Cleveland Gladiators travel to Jacksonville this weekend for a Saturday night matchup with the 4-1 Sharks. The team returns to The Q on Saturday, April 29 when they host the Tulsa Talons for Military Appreciation Night! All current and former members of the United States Military will receive up to $10 off ticket prices by showing their military ID at the Box Office. Fans are also encouraged to submit a photo of their military man or woman to military@clevelandgladiators.com for a special video board tribute to those brave soldiers who risk their lives for our country.
