Week 7 Game Broadcast on NFL Network this Friday
April 19, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Kansas City Command News Release
The COMMAND goes back on the road this week, traveling to Chicago to face the 4-1 Rush. So far in the 2011 AFL season, COMMAND fans who aren't content with just making it out to the home games have been able to catch all the action on the Internet via NiftyTV's streaming web application.
But this Friday, they'll be able to watch JJ Raterink, Bradly Chavez, Tyus Jackson, and their other favorite players live on the NFL Network's Arena Football Friday.
Raterink returns to the Allstate Arena as the starting quarterback of his own team. Last season, he took the Rush's reins for a few games when Russ Michna suffered an injury late in the season. Now the two will face off in a duel of leadership and throwing arms. Michna and Raterink stand only one place apart on the league QB leaderboards going into Week 7, at 9th and 10th respectively, but the COMMAND's Raterink has almost 400 more passing yards than his former teammate.
After a devestating loss to the undefeated Arizona Rattlers this past weekend, the COMMAND players are eager to earn their first win on the road. The question will be whether the team's latest additions, lineman Ryne Holstrom, defensive back Jeremy Gray, and Mizzou standout reciever Tommy Saunders will be the roster adjustments the team needs in order to make it happen.
Saunders will be taking the field for the first time in Chicago and has a big burden on his shoulders. COMMAND receiver Bret Smith, who early in the season was towards the top of the leaderboards for reception yards, has since fallen off. Chicago's Reggie Gray stands at 8th with 566 yards on the season. A native of Kearney, MO, Tommy Saunders set several high school football records and went on to be the team captain of the MU Tigers in his senior year of college.
