Johnson, Windsor and Hoke Earn Week 6 Honors

TULSA, OKLA. - Arizona WR ROD WINDSOR, Cleveland DL ANTHONY HOKE and Georgia WR CJ JOHNSON have been named Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and JLS Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 6 of the 2011 AFL season. In addition to these three awards, the AFL is also awarding the best catch of the week, the playmaker of the week and the highlight of the week. The Cutters Catch of the Week award winner for Week 6 is WR DONOVAN MORGAN of the Utah Blaze, while the NiFTy Playmaker of the Week is Iowa WR JESSE SCHMIDT. The Spalding Highlight of the Week award winner is Utah WR AARON BOONE.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Windsor (6-2, 215, Western New Mexico) hauled in 16 balls for 217 yards and five touchdowns in the Rattlers road victory over the Kansas City Command, 63-49, on Saturday. Windsor joined the Rattlers on March 16 following the NFL Lockout. His NFL rights are still owned by the Cleveland Browns.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hoke (6-1, 245, Cincinnati) collected six tackles and two sacks in Cleveland's loss to the New Orleans VooDoo, 33-34, on Friday. He also added a forced fumble and a blocked kick. Hoke leads the Gladiators with three sacks this season. He also owns both of the team's blocked kicks this season.

JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

Johnson (5-10, 180, Tennessee State) turned in a stellar performance in a losing cause to the Orlando Predators, 43-48, on Saturday. After returning the opening kickoff 57-yards for a score, Johnson recorded six catches for 23 yards and a touchdown. In his four returns, Johnson posted 127 yards and led the team with 150 all-purpose yards.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Morgan (6-3, 225, Pearl River C.C.) stunned fans at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa. and those watching on NFL Network's broadcast. Morgan somehow hauled in a Ryan Vena touchdown toss that was behind the receiver with one hand.

NIFTY PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Schmidt (6-3, 220, Buena Vista University) recorded seven receptions for 113 yards and seven receiving touchdowns in Iowa's loss to the Chicago Rush, 49-50, on Saturday. The touchdown mark ranks first in Barnstormers' history and second in League history.

SPALDING HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

Boone (6-3, 215, Kentucky) hauled in 10 balls for 100 yards and three touchdowns in Utah's victory over the Spokane Shock, 69-62. The 100-yard performance put Boone at 4,128 receiving yards in his Utah Blaze career. The mark is the most in franchise history.

Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Iowa's Jesse Schmidt, Orlando's Nick Hill, Dallas's Derrick Ross, Tampa's Hank Edwards, Utah's Aaron Boone, Jacksonville's Aaron Garcia, New Orleans' Danny Wimprine, and Tulsa's Troy McBroom.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: New Orleans' Chris LeFlore, San Jose's Eddie Moten, Tampa's Tim McGill, Iowa's Mike Lewis, Pittsburgh's Royce Adams, Georgia's Jerry Turner, Kansas City's Carlton Brown and Iowa's Brent Curvey.

JLS Ironman of the Week candidates included: Cleveland's Robert Redd, Utah's Alvance Robinson, Tampa's Eric Ortiz, Jacksonville's Kirby Griffin, Georgia's Jerry Turner, Kansas City's Bradley Chavez, Tulsa's Fred Shaw and Iowa's Jessie Schmidt.

The Arena Football League is also awarding the National Guard MVP of the Week, where fans are given the opportunity to select the winner. Candidates include Utah QB Tommy Grady, Arizona WR Rod Windsor and Iowa WR Jesse Schmidt. The winner will be announced on Thursday, April 21, 2011.
