VooDoo Shuffle Roster On Tuesday

April 19, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS (April 19, 2011) - The New Orleans VooDoo made a trade for defensive lineman Callahan Bright from the Philadelphia Soul, while also making other numerous roster moves, announced the front office on Tuesday afternoon.

Bright was acquired for claim order No. 15. The Shaw University standout is in his second year in the AFL, splitting time in 2010 between the Jacksonville Sharks and Tulsa Talons. In 2011, he has accumulated 6.5 total tackles.

Along with the Bright trade, the VooDoo filled vacant roster spots from placing defensive linemen Jeremy Pittman and Jemelle Cage on injured reserve. Also being placed on injured reserve was Tyrell McCrea, while veteran wide receiver Kris Peters and rookie quarterback Derek Cassidy were released.

Additions to the team include veteran arena quarterback Chris Wallace, wide receiver Lucas Taylor, defensive back Jasper O'quinn and lineman Kwame Jordan.

Wallace has three seasons of AFL experience, while spending seven in the AF2 ranks - all with the Florida Firecats. Taylor, a Carencro, La. native, was a standout wide receiver at Tennessee and enters his first season in the AFL, while O'quinn spent some time with Milwaukee in 2010.

Jordan, a local product out of John Ehret High School, played collegiately at Louisiana Tech, and his signing marks the fifth former Bulldog to join the VooDoo this season.
