SEVIERVILLE - Prior to today's game, the Chicago Cubs have announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster. Chicago announced that OF Anthony Giansanti has been released by the organization.

Giansanti spent four seasons with the Smokies, batting .237 (125-527) with four home runs and 50 RBI in 212 games since 2013. The 28-year old spent all of this season with Tennessee, compiling a .229 average (8-35) with one home run and three runs batted in over 18 games.

The Niantic, Conn. native spent seven season with the Cubs' organization. In 497 career games, Giansanti racked up a .255 average (385-1510) with 19 long balls and 183 runs batted in. The utility man was also a part of High-A Daytona's Florida State League Championship team in 2013. Giansanti was originally signed by Chicago as a non-drafted free agent on June 15, 2010 out of Siena University (N.Y.).

Tennessee's active roster currently stands at 24 players with three players currently on the disabled list. A revised roster is attached.

The Tennessee Smokies continue their ten-game homestand and five-game series against the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, this afternoon. RHP Duane Underwood Jr. (0-1, 3.86 ERA) - the top pitching prospect in the Cubs' organization according to Baseball America - is expected take the ball for the Smokies. LHP Jordan Guerrero (0-0, 4.64 ERA) is scheduled to get the start for Birmingham.

The Pilot Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 1:50 p.m. ET, leading up to the 2:05 p.m. ET first pitch from Smokies Stadium. Sunday afternoon's broadcast can be heard on exclusively online at SmokiesBaseball.com or via the TuneIn Radio or MiLB First Pitch apps. The game can also be watched online via MiLB.tv

Like all Sunday home games, today's affair will be a U.S.Cellular Family FUNday. Fans will able to take advantage of a special ticket package that includes four tickets, four meal vouchers and two Kids Zone wristbands for only $48 dollars.
