Angel City FC News Release
LOS ANGELES - Angel City Football Club today announced that this summer, the team will welcome guests to Australia for a curated experience to celebrate soccer, network and participate in meaningful conversations, and make a lasting impact in the local community.
Supported by Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch Whisky, the team's founding and exclusive spirits partner and Gatorade, the team's exclusive sports drink partner, the Angel City Equity House will run a variety of programming and experiences in Sydney from July 31-August 7. Guests will enjoy world-class women's soccer, attend live events hosted by the club, and participate in volunteer impact opportunities. The content of all events will be produced and amplified by Hello Sunshine, a US-based media brand and content company dedicated to female authorship and storytelling across all platforms.
The pinnacle of the experience will take place on August 4 when Angel City will host the Angel City Equity Summit at Sydney's iconic Opera House. Programmed more as a meeting of the minds and powerful discussion than a typical conference format, Angel City co-founders Natalie Portman, Julie Uhrman, and Kara Nortman and 100 leaders from sport, tech, entertainment, and business, will gather to share experiences, discuss pathways toward pay equity, and participate in candid conversations for guests to bring home to make an impact.
Confirmed guests include Portman, Uhrman, and Nortman, as well as FIFA Women's World Cup Australia COO Jane Fernandez, US soccer legend Julie Foudy, CEO of Hello Sunshine, Sarah Harden, Head of Legacy for Football Australia, Sarah Walsh, USWNT Players Association Executive Director Becca Roux, former FIFA Executive Committee member Moya Dodd, and other Angel City investors, partners, and friends to be announced soon.
During this stretch of events, customized storytelling will complement the conversations that will take in perspectives from those closest to the growth of the women's game, women's sports, and women's issues as a whole. The content will be posted across Angel City and partner channels to be announced soon.
"Since day one, Angel City has led with purpose and a single-minded focus on advancing gender equity. We have set higher standards and shown that we can succeed as a business and a team while also having a positive impact on and off the field. We are proof that mission and capital can coexist," said ACFC Co-Founder and President Julie Uhrman. "We know sport can transcend barriers far beyond the field of play and we are committed to learning and growing alongside others who want to bend the curve towards greater equity and inclusion in this industry and beyond. Equity House is a place for gathering, for collaboration, for conversation, and for elevating the voices and organizations driving change towards the vision we all share. We are honored to play a part in this effort and look forward to welcoming our partners and friends."
The team's commitment to making an impact on and off the field will come to life as a sponsor of Festival 23 organized locally by Common Goal, Football United, and Creating Chances. From August 6-14, Festival 23 will host a series of workshops for teens and young adults focused on four sustainable development goal topics: gender equality, climate change, social cohesion, and youth employability. Angel City is proud to help make Festival 23 possible and to give our guests and staff an opportunity to support such an incredible cause.
