Angel City Football Club Reveals Away Kit
April 2, 2022 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Angel City FC News Release
LOS ANGELES - Today, Angel City Football Club (ACFC), Los Angeles' professional women's soccer team, revealed the team's inaugural away kit, aptly named "Daylight." The kit will be worn during today's match against San Diego Wave FC live on CBS (4 p.m. EST/1 p.m. PST) and is available for presale now at www.angelcity.com.
The design continues the story of the home kit, which represents the dawn of a new era. "Daylight" is undoubtedly LA - paying homage to the style of this great city from the concrete to the coast.
Nike makes the jersey with sustainable, 100% recycled polyester fibers, and the kit features breathable side panels, Nike Dri-FIT technology, and a unique neckline. The jersey is primarily white with details in black and Sol Rosa, ACFC's custom color. The Nike swoosh, sponsors (DoorDash across front-of-kit, Sprouts Farmers Market adorning the back, and Birdies on the right sleeve), player name, and number are black. The shorts are in Sol Rosa and include the club crest and a white palm frond detail.
The away jersey is meant to be part of fans' everyday style. The design is a nod to the City of Los Angeles, where palm trees are abundant. The black sleeve and bottom corner represent the palm trees of the city, while some fronds have a sand detail paying homage to the beach. The team mantra - "VOLEMOS" - is on the nape of the neck as a reminder to always keep flying to greater heights, together.
The jersey was created by well-known art director and graphic designer Matthew Wolff.
More than just a jersey:
In addition to the jersey's unique symbolism, it is arguably one of the most impactful kits in global soccer. Over the next several years, ACFC will allocate over $2 million toward the community in partnership with the team's three jersey partners: DoorDash, Birdies, and Sprouts Farmers Market. This impact is made possible through the team's groundbreaking sponsorship model, where 10% of the sponsorship value benefits the community.
Ten percent of the sales of both home and away jerseys with the number 22 on the back goes to the Player 22 Future Program. This one-of-a-kind fund creates pathways for all former National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) players interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry. Whether coaching, refereeing, media, or front office roles, the ultimate goal is to prepare players for entry into the workforce following their professional soccer career.
Front-of-kit sponsor DoorDash made their foray into professional soccer with a significant multi-year commitment, the largest sponsorship in NWSL history. Alongside ACFC, DoorDash is committed to delivering over 250,000 meals to combat food insecurity in the Los Angeles area during the life of the multi-year partnership, with 75,000 delivered in the last 12 months.
Female-founded direct-to-consumer footwear brand Birdies is the exclusive sleeve-of-kit sponsor supporting ACFC's mission to empower girls and women to pursue their dreams. Last year, they launched the one-of-a-kind SOAR Internship Program, a six-week paid internship for high school juniors and seniors pursuing this goal.
Back-of-kit sponsor Sprouts Farmers Market joined with ACFC to address nutrition education and fresh food access throughout Los Angeles. Since the inception of the partnership, ACFC and Sprouts have already planted seven gardens at Los Angeles Unified School District schools with EnrichLA-their first community-based project. Through this partnership, we have also delivered more than 40,000 servings of healthy foods through Food Forward and The Garden School Foundation and provided the essential supplies and equipment for eight school garden education programs for the 2021-2022 school year.
Jersey availability
Due to global supply chain challenges, the jersey is available for pre-sale now at AngelCity.com and will be available at select retailers soon.
