Niagara IceDogs News Release
OWEN SOUND, ON - The IceDogs travelled up to the Bayshore in Owen Sound for their only time this season and did not receive a warm welcome in the north. Niagara forward Andrew LeBlanc's 3-point night was not enough to overcome the firepower of the Attack in a 9-3 loss.
Starting Goaltenders: Josh Rosenzweig (NIAG), Votary (OS)
The Attack would open the scoring 4on4 and extend the advantage to two. Assistant captain Daniel Michaud would drop the gloves with Teddy Sawyer after a hit behind the play near midperiod. Owen Sound would extend their lead by a pair before the end of the opening period.
The Attack would open the middle period adding another to their total. With 14:26 remaining in the middle period Andrew LeBlanc would wrist one top shelf past Votary to get the IceDogs on the board accepting the pass from Declan Waddick. The Attack would answer back just after the midway mark of regulation to extend their lead.
Andrew Wycisk would receive the pass from Andrew LeBlanc and throw a wrist shot on net from the point that had eyes to get past the Attack net for the IceDogs 2nd goal of the night. That goal would be the defenseman's 1st tally of the season in only his 9th game of the season due to an injury. The home side would add another before the end of the period.
No scoring through the first half of the final period until Andrew LeBlanc would fire his 2nd goal and his 3rd point of the evening assisted once again by Declan Waddick. Owen Sound would respond right back with a goal of their own. Waddick would be shown the door for a 5-minute cross checking penalty and Owen Sound would increase their lead with the man advantage and take this game on a Wednesday Night.
Shots were 52-22 for the home side, with 43 saves for Josh Rosenzweig in the loss.
Niagara heads home before going back on the road this weekend in Ottawa and Kingston.
