JACKSONVILLE - The 2019 National Arena League champions, the Jacksonville Sharks are proud to announce that Sharks Defensive Lineman Damien Jacobs has officially agreed to be the Defensive Lineman coach at Andrew Jackson High School. Damien joins two of his Sharks teammates on the coaching staff as Andrew Jackson High School previously announced the addition of it's new linebacker coach, Sharks All-NAL FB/LB Zack and last year brought on All-NAL Sharks receiver Devin Wilson as the teams wide receivers coach. In Wilson's rookie season coaching with Andrew Jackson, he helped the Tigers to four victories including one over Episcopal School where former All-NAL & All-AFL Sharks linebacker Charlie Hunt served as the team's offensive coordinator under former head coach and Jaguars pro bowl quarterback Mark Brunell.

This will be Jacob's first-year coaching the Tigers, Jacobs spent the 2019 season with the NAL Champions Jacksonville Sharks, Jacobs landed one of the teams five sacks in the NAL Championship game against the defending champion Carolina Cobras. Jacobs will enter his fourth season as a Jacksonville Shark, during his career he earned Second Team All-NAL honors and was awarded in 2018 as the NAL's Most Improved Player. During his rookie year he played for the Georgia Firebirds before finishing the year with the Jacksonville Sharks where he won his first NAL title with the team in 2017. Jacobs re-signed with the Sharks for the 2021 season under Head Coach James Fuller and will be entering training camp with the team this spring.

Jacobs is originally from Gibson, Louisiana and was a highly recruited defensive lineman out of high school. Originally committed to Florida State, he spent his freshman & sophomore seasons at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC) at the JUCO level where he helped the Lions to a perfect 12-0 season and a NJCAA National Championship Victory before he transferred to the University of Florida where he played on the defensive line for Gators during the 2012 and 2013 seasons under former head coach Will Muschamp. During his career with the Gators Jacobs played in 23 games recording 34 tackles, six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks for 14 yards, and one pass deflection.
