Frisco Fighters News Release
Early on, in terms of rivalries, it's been pretty one-sided.
Saturday night's game against the Tulsa Oilers, however, was another story. Despite the hosts taking a lead in the fourth quarter, the Fighters remained undefeated by pulling out a 39-37 win.
Jerminic Smith and TJ Edwards connected twice for scores for Frisco (7-0) in the first half, and Phazione McClurge added another receiving touchdown in the first 30 minutes. Smith and McClurge combined for 160 receiving yards in the contest.
Jo-El Shaw punched in the hosts' lone touchdown in that same time and Jeremy Reynolds added a field goal right before halftime. Shaw and Edwards traded ground scores out of the break, then both teams got points as Alexis Rosario pulled in a touchdown pass and Michael LoVett returned a blocked PAT.
The Fighters took hold of a 13-point lead when Smith reeled in his third touchdown reception of the night, but Vince Espinoza's air strikes to Damion May and Jonathan Nance helped Tulsa (1-6) pull ahead by one point with five minutes remaining.
Bryce Crawford nailed a 46-yard field goal with 1:36 left to give Frisco its seventh consecutive victory to start the season.
