Anchorage Wolverines News Release
After a long-fought battle, the Anchorage Wolverines fell 2-1 to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in an extended shootout.
Vaughn Makar stood between the pipes for the Wolverines, stopping 18 of 19 shots throughout regulation, and five of six in the shootout.
Patrick Tolan, Anchorage's affiliated player, scored their lone goal early in the first, recording his first NAHL point with a far-side top-shelf zinger.
The Wolverines stayed ahead until the last two minutes of the second frame, when Fairbanks intercepted a pass from Danny Bagnole, bringing the puck up the ice and putting it over Makar's left shoulder.
The third frame and overtime went scoreless, leading the team to a six-shot overtime. No Wolverines players were able to drain their shots, giving the Ice Dogs their first win against the Wolverines in seven games.
The Wolverines will return to The Ben next weekend against the Janesville Jets for their FINAL HOME GAMES of regular season, we'll see you there for two 7:00pm puck drops!
