Anchorage Wolverines News Release
Camden Shasby, an Alaskan hockey standout, will return to his hometown and join the Anchorage Wolverines for the remainder of the season.
"We couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to have Camden returning home to play on the Wolverines," Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach Merit Waldrop said. "He's not only elite level hockey player, but he's an elite human. He exemplifies the type of player and person that we want on the Wolverines."
Shasby last played for his home state in the 2021-2022 season, when he suited for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. At just 16 years old, Shasby tallied five goals and 20 assists through 58 games.
"I'm extremely excited to get going and start playing soon," Shasby said. "It's also really nice to just be home again. I left home at 13 to play out of state and this is the first time in 5 years I'll be playing at home. Overall, I just know I'll be happy here."
More recently, Shasby has been defending for the Fargo Force of the USHL. He has totaled 53 games for Fargo, racking up one goal and 10 assists.
"I'll carry over what I learned [in the USHL] to here so I can be the best I can be," Shasby said.
Shasby returns home with an official commitment to NCAA Division 1 Western Michigan University.
Shasby hails from Alaskan hockey royalty, as Anchorage hockey fans have watched his father, Matt Shasby, move up the ranks from UAA Hockey Captain, Alaska Aces Kelly Cup Champion and now, Shasby is the Head Coach of the Seawolves.
It means a lot to be back home and play in front of my hometown," Shasby said. "I know the crowd is awesome and the community is tight so it'll be very cool to play in front of Anchorage."
There will be media availability at the pregame skate tomorrow at 10:00am at The Ben with Shasby.
