Anaheim Arsenal Hires NBA Veteran Paul Mokeski

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2008) - Twelve-year NBA veteran Paul Mokeski, most recently an assistant coach for the Charlotte Bobcats, has been named the new assistant coach of the Anaheim Arsenal. Mokeski will work alongside new head coach and NBA veteran Sam Vincent.

Mokeski and Vincent worked together in the NBA last season, uniting on the Charlotte Bobcats staff and leading the team to its longest winning streak in franchise history. Both coaches hope to build on their success with the Arsenal.

"Sam Vincent and I have worked together at the highest level. We've gone through a draft together, a training camp, a preseason, and an 82-game regular season," Mokeski said. "All of that experience puts us ahead of the curve because we already know each other so well."

Mokeski's 16-year professional coaching career has included stints with the Bobcats, Dallas Mavericks, Fort Worth Flyers, and several CBA and USBL teams.

As a player, Mokeski was selected 20th overall in the 1979 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. His career included stints with the Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, and Golden State Warriors, but Mokeski spent most of his time in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks, with whom he played from 1982 to 1989. Mokeski enjoyed a 12-year NBA career. In 9 of those 12 years, his teams made the playoffs. .

A native of Spokane, Wash., Mokeski grew up in Canoga Park, California and attended Crespi Carmelite High school in Encino, California where he was a high school All-American in 1975. He attended the University of Kansas were he was named an All-Big Eight player during his junior and senior seasons.

Paul and his wife Linda have two sons, Michael and Bryan. Both play basketball in college. Michael is a 6'9" senior at Baker University in Kansas. Bryan is a 7'1" junior at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas.
