Amerks Weekly Schedule - April 3

April 3, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release

***This Week's Storylines***

*The Amerks closed out their second-to-last three-in-three of the campaign with a 2-1 victory over the Albany Devils Sunday at the Times Union Center. The win was the Amerks fifth in the last six games after seeing their season-long four-game win streak snapped Saturday in Utica.

*Less than a week after posting his first AHL shutout last Sunday, goaltender Linus Ullmark turned in yet another solid performance on Friday, making 51 saves as the Amerks pushed their win streak to four straight games with a 5-2 win over the Comets at The Blue Cross Arena.

*After notching seven points (6+1) last weekend, veteran forward Derek Grant has continued his torrid pace after scoring the game-winning goals in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Devils. On Friday, Grant pushed his point-streak to four games as he picked up the primary helper on Casey Nelson's opening goal of the game. Overall, Grant shows 13 points (8+5) in 16 games with the Amerks.

*Cole Schneider remains Rochester's top point-getter with 57 points (21+36) through 64 games this season and enters the week riding a season-long six-game point streak (2+6). His 57 points currently rank eighth in scoring in the AHL while his team-best 36 assists rank 13th among league leaders.

*The Buffalo Sabres recalled rookie forward Alexander Nylander earlier today from the Amerks. The 19-year old forward was drafted by the Sabres with the eighth overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft and earns his first-career recall to the NHL. In 62 games for the Amerks this season, Nylander leads all Rochester rookies with nine goals and 18 assists. Nylander becomes the 15th different Amerk to be recalled to the big club this season.

*The Amerks begin a stretch of four games in five nights on Wednesday when they host the Binghamton Senators in a make-up game at The Blue Cross Arena. The game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 15 between the Amerks and Senators in Rochester, was postponed due to inclement weather conditions. Tickets for the March 15 game will be valid for the re-scheduled game on Wednesday or can be redeemed for any remaining regular season home game.
