Amerks Recall Matt MacKenzie from Elmira

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Matt MacKenzie from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

MacKenzie, 23, has appeared in 23 games with the Amerks this season, recording four points (1+3) and 13 penalty minutes. He has also registered two points (1+1) and 13 penalty minutes in eight ECHL games with Elmira. Last year, he appeared in 64 games with the Amerks, recording 10 points (2+8) and 84 penalty minutes to set career-highs in all categories. In 137 career AHL games with the Amerks, the 6-foot-1, 198-pound native of New Westminster, British Columbia, has registered 22 points (3+19) and 179 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 15 career ECHL contests with Gwinnett, Greenville and Elmira. MacKenzie was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
