Amerks Hit the Road and Bus to 'Bingo'

GAME NOTES: Tonight, the Rochester Americans (1-0-0-0) hit the road for the first time this season-- to battle the Binghamton Senators (1-0-0-0) at 7:05 p.m. at the Broome County Veterans War Memorial. The game will be broadcast on WBER 90.5 FM and online at www.amerks.com and wber.monroe.edu/.

HEAD-TO-HEAD: The Amerks have a lifetime record of 1-3-2 against the Binghamton Senators.

LAST NIGHT: The Amerks opened the 2003-04 regular season last night at The Blue Cross Arena with a 2-1 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs. It was the first time in three seasons that Rochester won its home opener. Rookies Derek Roy and Michael Ryan had impressive debuts as they both recorded assists in their first professional game. Goaltender Tom Askey turned away 19 shots in the victory.

CUNNEYWORTH MOVING UP THE CHARTS: With the win last night, Amerks Head Coach Randy Cunneyworth earned his 110th career win, moving only six behind Mike Keenan for fourth place on the franchise's all-time wins list.

CAPTAIN AMERICANS: Rochester Americans Head Coach Randy Cunneyworth announced that Domenic Pittis, Brian Chapman and Doug Janik have all been named alternate captains for the 2003-04 season.

AMERKS ON THE AIR: The second episode of "FACEOFF," the Amerks and Knighthawks weekly TV show, will run on Rochester's WB-16 at midnight on Saturday, October 11th tonight and on Sunday, October 12th at noon. This week's guest host is Amerk goaltender Tom Askey. The Amerks' weekly talk radio show, "Amerks Hockey Talk," returns to the air on Monday, October 13th on WHTK 1280-AM. The Voice of the Amerks, Don Stevens, hosts the hockey show and the Director of Communications, Craig Rybczynski, serves as the producer and co-host. The one-hour program runs from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday nights at Bennigan's Pub in the Clarion Riverside Hotel. This week's guests include Amerk Steve Lingren, Amerks Head Coach Randy Cunneyworth and General Manager Jody Gage.

HAMEL A HIT IN ‘BINGO': Former Rochester American Denis Hamel had two goals and an assist in his Binghamton Senators debut last night in a 4-2 Sens win at Philadelphia. Tonight is Binghamton's home opener.

NEXT GAME: The Rochester Americans return home for a 7:35 p.m. game against the Toronto Roadrunners on Friday, October 17th. The game will be televised tape delayed on Time Warner Cable Channel 98. The contest will be aired on Saturday, October 18th at 12:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and online at www.amerks.com.
