Buffalo, New York - The Rochester Americans defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 at First Niagara Center on Tuesday night. Cody Hodgson scored the game-winner and added an assist while David Leggio made 36 saves for the victory.
The Amerks opened the scoring at 11:45 of the opening frame on a goal by Joe Finley. Rick Schofield wired a shot from the left point which was tipped by Finley in the slot and the puck dribbled past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Peter Delmas and into the back of the net.
The Bulldogs tied the score at 12:09 of the second stanza on a goal by Michael Bournival, which was his first professional goal. Patrick Holland was streaking down the left side and slid a pass to Bournival in the slot who one-timed the puck along the ice past Rochester Americans starting goaltender David Leggio.
Rochester took the lead again at 12:53 of the second period on a goal by Hodgson. Hodgson put the puck on goal and was able to pick up his own rebound in front of the net and shovel the puck past Delmas.
The Americans doubled their lead on a powerplay tally by T.J. Brennan at 16:06 of the third frame. Brennan received a pass at the right point from Brayden McNabb and rifled a shot which trickled off Delmas and into the back of the net.
