Allen, TEXAS - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, and partner Globe Life are proud to announce that the team has re-signed defenseman Eric Roy to a contract for the 2018-2019 season.
Eric Roy is back for a fourth straight season in Allen. The resident of Beauval, Saskatchewan is a former 5th Round Draft Pick of the Calgary Flames. Roy has been one of the Americans top producing defenseman during his time in Allen. He has 41 goals in 162 games with the club.
"It's a great privilege to be back in Allen," said Eric Roy. "This is one of the top places to play in minor league hockey. We have unbelievable fan support here and they really treat the players well. It was a disappointing ending to last season, but I know with the club Coach Martinson has assembled we'll be right back in the mix in the Western Conference. I can't wait to get back to Texas and get on the ice."
Roy played his junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. He had 200 points in 322 games during his junior career.
"We need Eric Roy starting off where he left off two years ago when he had 35 points in 40 games," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He was one of the top offensive defensemen in the league that year and we need him to get back to that level."
