Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI - The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, re-signed Otsego, MI native and veteran defenseman Kyle Bushee the team announced on Wednesday.

Bushee, entering his tenth full professional season, returns for his third season with the K-Wings, after setting career highs in goals (10), assists (32), and points (42). The veteran defenseman was named an ECHL All-Star last season, representing the K-Wings at the All-Star Classic in Indianapolis.

"Personally, I want to build off what I did last year. I want to prove that it wasn't a fluke and I'm capable of repeating that," said Bushee. "It was disappointing for us not to make the playoffs. The expectation here is to win. Our fan base and the city are craving a championship and I'd love to deliver that."

The defenseman, who appeared in his 600th professional game last season, heads into his third season in Kalamazoo. Over his first two seasons with the club Bushee has netted 73 points (18g, 55a) in 125 games.

"His commitment to his fitness in the last two years has totally revamped his career. He eats, sleeps, and dreams K-Wings hockey," said head coach Nick Bootland. "He's an extremely valuable two-way defenseman for us. It's awesome to have home grown talent on our roster like Kyle, but also Zach Saar and Chad McDonald this season."

Fans are invited to attend the K-Wings Snag-A-Seat/Redline Sale Open House on Thursday night from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Wings Event Center. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet Bushee as well as Zach Saar, Chad McDonald, and Justin Taylor, as well as take advantage of the Red Line sale and purchase equipment, jerseys, and other memorabilia.

Kalamazoo Wings season tickets are available now and start at less than $13 per game with parking included and one-of-a-kind benefits. More information can be gathered at www.kwings.com/seasontickets.
