Americans Unable to Hold off Chiefs in 3-2 Loss

Kennewick, WA - The Americans fell Sunday to the Spokane Chiefs in the first meeting between the two teams this preseason.

Copeland Fricker opened scoring 8:46 into tonight's game to give Spokane an early 1-0 lead.

A minute later, with Ben Thornton in the box for checking to the head, Parker Bell scored on a one timer from the slot, beating Campbell Arnold on the blocker side. Assisted by Carson Haynes and Jake Sloan.

With 4:28 remaining in the opening frame, Bell scored off a wrist shot from the right circle to give the Americans a 2-1 lead. The goal was once again scored on the power play and came assisted by Lukas Dragicevic and Carson Haynes.

Bell leads the Americans in preseason scoring now with four goals.

Ronin Geraghty started the game in net for the Americans and switched with import goaltender Tomas Suchanek halfway through the second frame.

Cordel Larson was able to sneak a puck past Suchanek and tie the game for the Chiefs 11:56 into the second period. The game held tied until Reed Jacobson netted the game winner 7:35 into the final frame.

Spokane out shot the Americans tonight 30-24.

The Americans will travel to Spokane on Wednesday and then wrap up the preseason against the Chiefs on Saturday at home. Tickets can be purchased at the Toyota Center box office.
