Americans Sign Young Goaltender

Allen, Texas - The two-time Presidents' Cup Champion Allen Americans announced today the signing of goalie Ben Meisner to a deal for the 2014-2015 CHL season.

The product of Halifax, Nova Scotia, stands 5'11" and weighs 175 pounds. Meisner is entering his third professional season of hockey, having spent last year with both Utah and Fort Wayne in the ECHL. He was dealt by the Utah Grizzlies to the Fort Wayne Komets on December 26, 2013.

"We are excited to have him," said Americans Head Coach and General Manager Steve Martinson. "Ben has had an excellent save percentage everywhere he's played."

Among his highlights from last year, include being named ECHL Goaltender of the Week last February while in net for the Fort Wayne Komets. He tallied three shutouts last season, including two with Fort Wayne, while posting a 2.39 Goals Against Average.

He completed four seasons of AHA (Atlantic Hockey Association, NCAA) playing with American International College, where in 2012-13 he was n amed to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team and named a Second-Team Atlantic Hockey All-Conference selection. He started in each of his 32 games played, with two shutouts, school-record 2.98 goals against average and a school-record .923 save percentage

The Americans open their sixth season in the CHL this October, and for the second year in a row will open as the defending Presidents' Cup Champions. Season Tickets for the 2014-2015 Allen Americans season are on sale NOW at www.allenamericans.com .
