Americans Sign Forward Greger Hanson
November 21, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Americans added scoring depth to the roster today with the signing of free-agent forward Greger Hanson.
Hanson, a 5'10, left-handed forward from Lidingo, Sweden, has most recently played in the ECHL with the Greenville Road Warriors.
American fans might recognize Hanson from last season, as he played for the Wichita Thunder of the CHL.
"Obviously Allen is a beautiful place to live," Hanson said. "But basically, it all comes down to winning. It's exciting to be reuniting with my college teammate Phil Fox," he said. "He was the first person I called when I signed and now he's my new roommate."
In 44 games with the Thunder, Hanson had as many points as games, with 21 goals and 23 assists. He also posted 13 points during the Thunder's 14-game playoff run.
"He moves his feet very well," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "He's a very dangerous player who scored some big goals against us last season."
Hanson will wear number 12, and he is the first European player to make the regular season roster for the Americans.
The Americans next home game is Friday night against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 pm. Tickets on sale Now at www.allenamericans.com or call 972-912-1000.
