Americans Grab 2-1 Finals Lead After 3-1 Victory

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans and Denver Cutthroats faced off at the Allen Event Center on Wednesday night for Game3 of the CHL Finals. The Americans, looking to take a 2-1 series lead over the Denver, captured a 3-1 victory over the Cutthroats.

Allen jumped out to an early lead at the 5:20 mark of the first period, when Daniel Tetrault notched his second goal of the post season, assisted by Jamie Schaafsma, to give the Americans a 1-0 lead.

Denver didn't trail for long. At the 7:15 mark of the frame, Kyle Flecther netted the tying goal, assisted by Garrett Bembridge and Steve Kaunisto. Heading into the first intermission, the Americans and Cutthroats were tied 1-1, with Denver holding a 13-10 edge on shots.

Through the second period, both teams remained tied with one goal apiece, however Allen head an edge on shots 13-9.

The game remained tied until the 14:18 mark of the third frame, when Greger Hanson netted a beautiful shot, passed to him by Ross Rouleau and Mike Berube. At the 18:22 mark of the frame, Kale Kerbashian fired a shot into Denver's open net to give Allen a 3-1 lead. The goal, his first of the post season, was assisted by Spencer Asuchak and Brian McMillin. The Americans continued to hold an edge on shots 14-7 forthe period and a game total of 37-29.

With the win, the Americans take a 2-1 series lead over the Denver Cutthroats. The Americans will be back in action on Friday night at the Allen Event Center for Game4 at 7:05pm.
