Allen Americans News Release
ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans hosted the Fort Worth Brahmas Tuesday night at Allen Event Center, dropping a 2-1 decision in a shootout. The Americans were the first to get on the board with a shot by Drew Daniels that found the back of the net, Mike Montgomery and Jason Deitsch assisting.
Allen would hold tight to that one point lead throughout the first and second periods. However, the Brahmas were able to tie the game with only 1:15 left in regulation, when Shawn Szydlowski fired one from the left face-off circle past Aaron Dell. A power play goal for the Brahmas, who scored 6 on 4 after pulling Brad Fogal in the final two minutes.
With no goal in sudden death overtime, both teams moved to the shootout. Jamie Schaafsma scored the only goal for the Americans, while Sy Nutkevitch and Brendon Hodge scored for the Brahmas to give them the extra point.
The Allen Americans still lead the Central Hockey League in points with 58, two points ahead of second place Wichita. The Americans host the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night at Allen Event Center. Tickets are available online atwww.ticketmaster.com or www.allenamericans.com.
